Andrew Tan, born on April 6, 1984, in Bukit Mertajam, Malaysia, embarked on his musical journey by participating in numerous singing competitions. His early career development included honing his vocal craft and stage presence, which prepared him for a broader audience. In 2006, he achieved second place in the Malaysian singing competition “ASTRO Star Quest,” which led to representing Malaysia in the 25th “TVB International Chinese New Talent Singing Championship.” This early success provided a foundation for his subsequent career.
In 2008, Andrew Tan debuted in Taiwan, marking a significant turning point in his career. Following the dissolution of his previous label, he independently produced and released his album “Tiānhòu” (Stardom) in 2010. The title track from this album became a major hit in Taiwan in 2011, solidifying his status as an emerging artist in the Mandopop scene. His collaborative work alongside label mate Bii resulted in another chart-topping song, further expanding his reach and influence. Andrew Tan has released albums such as “The Sound of Hearts” and “BROKEN,” showcasing his musical range.
