Two time Olympic medal winner Andrey Larkov is a Russian cross country skier who has competed in the World Cup since 2013.
Larkov competed in ski events throughout his time at university, and in 2015 won three gold medals at the Universiade held in Spain. He won the individual sprint, the 30km freestyle and the 4 x 7.5km relay, and in the same year he competed in the World Championships for the first time. He continued to put in good performances over the next few seasons, and qualified for the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in South Korea. Larkov took home two medals at the Games, including a silver in the 4 x 10km relay event and a bronze in the 50km mass start. By now he was known as a strong competitor at international tournaments, having placed second in the 15km mass start event at the 2017/18 Stage World Cup and taken bronze at the 50km mass start event in the 2018/19 World Cup in Norway. Larkov also enjoyed team wins during the 2018/19 World Cup and the 2019/20 World Cup, helping his country secure victory in the 4 x 7.5km relay events.
Not happy with just Olympic and World Cup medals, Larkov also won two World Championship silvers in both the 2017 and the 2019 competitions. He continues to be one of the most formidable skiers on the scene, with years of experience behind him.
