Angelo Maldonado Jr

Angelo Maldonado Jr., a Brooklyn-born Latino-American, has established himself as an actor, writer, rapper, singer, and comedian. His career spans various facets of the entertainment industry, showcasing his versatility. Early in his career, he performed alongside music legends such as Patti LaBelle and Wyclef Jean on “Last Call with Carson Daily” in October 2004, highlighting his musical and performance abilities. His acting career has seen him directed by Hollywood figures like Ridley Scott and Ethan Coen, and he has shared the screen with actors including Matt Damon, Pedro Pascal, Margaret Qualley, Bill Camp, Beanie Feldstein, and Brian Tyree-Henry.

His acting credits include roles in “Smokers” (2008) as Laro, “King of Newark 2” (2018) as Don Lou, and “The Fearless Two” (2019) as Henrick. He appeared in the TV series “Danny’s House” for eight episodes in 2019 as Self – Exhausted Delivery Guy. More recently, he featured as a Lock-Up Thug in “Drive-Away Dolls” (2024), Benjamin Hernandez in “We the People” (2024), and Detective Horgez in “Mr. Blue Shirt: The Inspiration” (2024). A significant turning point in Maldonado Jr.’s life and career was the passing of his father in April 2017, a former Marine and SAG-AFTRA actor who struggled with mental illness and died by suicide. This event motivated Angelo to honor his father’s legacy by pursuing his own artistic talents more vigorously. He also founded “Mindstate Films,” a production company whose inaugural project focuses on the mental health crisis, drawing from his personal experience. He has also undergone extensive training at institutions like Steelstacks for comedy improv (2017) and stand-up comedy (2017), AfterWords Actors Studio for acting (2018), Tesia Nicoli School of Acting (2016), and The Actors Lab (2019).
