Angelo Maldonado Jr

Angelo Maldonado Jr. is a Puerto Rican American SAG-AFTRA actor and filmmaker based in his hometown of Brooklyn, New York. His television credits include a recurring guest star role as Jorge on STARZ’s Power Book III: Raising Kanan, a series regular role on ViceTV’s Danny’s House, guest star roles on Chicago P.D. and Law & Order, and appearances on FBI and Dope Thief. His film credits include a supporting role in Ethan Coen’s Drive-Away Dolls.

Before pursuing acting, Angelo was a signed hip-hop and R&B artist. He performed alongside Patti LaBelle and appeared with Wyclef Jean on Last Call with Carson Daly. His screen career has included work on projects directed by Ridley Scott, Ethan Coen, and Mario Van Peebles.

Angelo began pursuing acting following the loss of his father to suicide in 2017. His father, a former Marine and SAG-AFTRA actor who struggled with mental illness, inspired him to carry on his legacy through a career in film and television.

Maldonado is also the founder of Mindstate Films, a production company focused on stories about mental health and the human experience. He is currently developing Bendito, a deeply personal film inspired in part by his father’s life and the impact of losing him to suicide. Through acting, filmmaking, and advocacy, Angelo seeks to challenge stigma and encourage meaningful conversations about mental health.
