Angus Sampson

Angus Sampson, born in Sydney, Australia, was educated at Trinity Grammar School and The Armidale School before graduating from the AWARD School in 2002. His acting career began in 1996 as Dylan Lewis’s sidekick on the ABC youth music show “Recovery.” He later appeared in television roles like “The Secret Life of Us,” “The 10:30 Slot,” and “Greeks on the Roof.” In 2007, Sampson portrayed Ugly Dave Gray in the television film “The King” and appeared in “Wilfred.” The following year, he played Leonardo da Vinci in “Time Trackers” and Michael Thorneycroft in “Underbelly.”

Sampson gained wider recognition for his role as Tucker in the “Insidious” film series, a character he reprised in multiple installments since 2010. His film credits also include “The Mule” (2014), where he served as co-writer, co-director, and producer, and the Oscar-winning “Mad Max: Fury Road” (2015), as the Organic Mechanic. In television, he starred as Bear Gerhardt in the second season of “Fargo” (2015) and has more recently been featured as Dom Chalmers in “Bump” (2021-present) and Dennis ‘Cisco’ Wojciechowski in Netflix’s “The Lincoln Lawyer” (2022-present).

Beyond acting, Sampson has also contributed as a writer and director, with works including the short films “It’s Him… Terry Lim!” (2011) and “The Last Supper” (2009), both of which he directed and wrote. His career showcases a consistent engagement across various aspects of film and television production. He was a special guest juror at the 2006 Melbourne International Film Festival and hosted the 2010 IF Awards.
