Anne De Salvo is one of America’s most prolific actors, with a career that has encompassed work as a director, producer, writer and teacher. She is best known for acting in a range of acclaimed feature films, starring opposite legends such as John Travolta, Jim Belushi, Dudley Moore, Susan Sarandon and Whoopi Goldberg.
Born in Philadelphia, De Salvo studied acting in New York before finding notability as a Broadway performer, originating roles in many lauded productions such as The Sorrows of Stephen and The Nature and Purpose of the Universe. She won an Obie Award and Showbusiness Award for her portrayal of Lucille Pomp in the Broadway hit Gemini, before writing a one-woman show that premiered at the Westbank Theatre, The Moaner.
Continuing her stage career in Los Angeles, she made the move into film and television, appearing in motion pictures such as Stardust Memories, Arthur, Perfect, Compromising Positions and Taking Care of Business. She’s also been seen in a range of television movies, including the Emmy Award-winning The Last Tenant and Hallmark’s Citizen Jane and Wishing Well. Her list of television credits is impressive, with guest roles in scores of notable series, including Two Broke Girls, CSI: Miami, Entourage, Monk, Sex and The City, American Dreams, Judging Amy and The Tracy Ullman Show. Most recently, De Salvo has worked as a director, producing, directing and writing the critically acclaimed short film Women Without Implants. Airing on Lifetime and earning several award nominations, it featured De Salvo in the leading role. Her first feature film, The Amati Girls, premiered in 2001.
