Anousheh Ansari is a trailblazing businesswoman and the first female space tourist, renowned for her significant contributions to both the technology and space exploration sectors. After emigrating from Iran to the United States in 1984, she earned a bachelor’s degree in electronics and computer engineering from George Mason University and a master’s in electrical engineering from George Washington University. In 1993, she co-founded Telecom Technologies, Inc., which was acquired by Sonus Networks in 2000 for approximately $550 million, showcasing her entrepreneurial acumen.

Ansari’s passion for space exploration led her to make a multimillion-dollar contribution to the X Prize Foundation, funding the Ansari X Prize, which incentivized the development of private space travel. This initiative culminated in the successful launch of SpaceShipOne in 2004, marking a pivotal moment in aerospace history.
