David Garrard

David Garrard is a former NFL athlete who transitioned from a respected quarterback for the Jacksonville Jaguars to a motivational figure, actively involved in community and business ventures. After leading the East Carolina Pirates football team to a notable comeback victory against the 13th-ranked Miami Hurricanes in 1999, David Garrard went on to break 28 school passing and offensive records, achieving over 9,000 passing yards and 1,000 rushing yards during his collegiate career from 1997 to 2001. Starting every game from 1999 to 2001, he graduated with a degree in Construction Management in 2001. His impressive collegiate performance led to being drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the fourth round of the 2002 NFL Draft as the 108th overall pick.

He briefly joined the Miami Dolphins in 2012 before knee issues led to his release. In March 2013, he signed with the New York Jets, but persistent knee swelling prompted him to announce his retirement in May 2013. Despite a brief return to the Jets in October 2013, he officially concluded his NFL career. On May 8, 2015, David Garrard cemented his legacy by signing a ceremonial contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars, ensuring his retirement as a proud member of the team.

Beyond the field, Garrard established The David Garrard Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to supporting breast cancer awareness and research. He leverages his platform as a spokesperson for 121 Financial Credit Union and has openly shared his personal journey with Crohn’s disease, raising awareness and inspiring others through his story of perseverance and success. David Garrard remains a respected motivational figure, actively engaged in impactful community and business ventures.
