Anthony Cumia

Anthony Cumia, a native of New York City, has established a multifaceted career as a shock jock, podcaster, and broadcaster, transitioning from conventional radio to independent digital platforms and now a return to syndicated radio. After his breakthrough on WBAB’s ‘Nighttime Attitude’ in September 1994, Anthony Cumia went on to establish a highly influential career in radio broadcasting. His comedy bits for Gregg ‘Opie’ Hughes laid the groundwork for the formation of ‘Opie and Anthony,’ which began broadcasting in March 1995 on WAAF in Boston, Massachusetts. Following a departure from WAAF in April 1998, the duo moved to WNEW in New York City, where they rapidly achieved a top 10 afternoon drive show by 2000.

This union resulted in the establishment of the unified Compound Censored platform, significantly broadening its reach and content offerings within the independent media landscape. In a notable return to traditional radio, Anthony Cumia joined WABC’s Talkradio 77 in February 2025, bringing a weekly version of ‘The Anthony Cumia Show’ to a broad audience.
