Italian figure skater Daniel Grassl is a multiple Challenger Series gold medallist, and a World Junior Championships medal-winner. Grassl is one of his country’s most decorated skating stars, and has been competing internationally since before his teens. He is the first European skater to compete a quad loop and the youngest skater to have landed a quad Lutz jump in international competition.
Grassl was first named Italian Champion at novice level, and has since repeated the feat at junior and senior levels to secure a total of five national titles. During his advanced novice career, he took a string of gold medals at events including Crystal Skate, the Hellmut Seibt Memorial, the Denkova-Satviski Cup, and the Gardena Trophy, and later continued his success at junior level with titles including the Merano Cup, the Toruń Cup and the Golden Bear. He would enjoy Junior Grand Prix podium finishes in Poland, Slovakia and Italy, and took the Junior World Championships bronze medal at Zagreb in 2019.
In senior competition, Grassl has already taken numerous titles including the Warsaw Cup, the Ice Challenge and the Egna Trophy, and has landed Challenger Series golds at the Ice Star, the Alpen Trophy and the Asian Open. Meanwhile, after finishing sixth at his debut European Figure Skating Championships in 2019, he returned to the competition in Graz the following year to finish fourth overall and to place an impressive second in the free skate.
