Born Sam Makhoul, but so wittily renamed to Sam McCool for the stage, the Australian stand up comedian and actor is a powerhouse in front of an audience whether it comes to comedy, emceeing, acting or hosting. With a rich cultural background, Sam also brings a variety of languages to his work including French and Indonesian on top of English, as well as some Arabic and Spanish to top it all off. His vibrant cultural experiences make for a well rounded, interesting and enigmatic performer that keeps audiences coming back for more.
Sam was first discovered by the world when he appeared on Australia’s Got Talent in 2012, making it all the way to the finals. The funnyman didn’t even need the win to skyrocket him to immediate success. In no time at all he was performing sold-out solo shows at Sydney Opera House, and traveling the world with his three shows; Multiple Personality Distorter, Embracist and Revisionary. Sam has been a guest on numerous Australian talk shows, radio programmes and more. Before his discovery, Sam acted in multiple Australian productions including the 1998 Independent movie, Dags, as Enzo. In 2015 he also appeared in the short film, Busted.
In addition to comedy and acting, Sam has taken up writing and co-wrote the dark comedy Lighten Up. The production was developed by the prestigious Sydney Theatre Company and performed at Griffin Theatre Company. As a corporate emcee Sam has hosted events for major companies including Tedx, Optus, Samsung, Australia Post and the Canadian Tourism Commission.
