Ashtyn Davis

Ashtyn Davis was born on October 10, 1996, in Santa Cruz, California. He attended Santa Cruz High School, where he excelled in both football as a wide receiver and track, particularly in hurdles, a skill he developed for improved football speed. Despite being lightly recruited for football, his track prowess, especially in the 110-meter hurdles, garnered collegiate interest.

Davis initially walked on to the track and field team at the University of California, Berkeley, and later joined the Golden Bears football team as a walk-on during his freshman year. He steadily progressed, becoming a starting safety during his redshirt sophomore year. His collegiate career was marked by significant achievements, including 56 tackles, five passes broken up, and four interceptions in his redshirt junior year, earning him first-team All-Pac-12 Conference honors from the Associated Press and other outlets. In his senior year, he continued to be a key defensive player with 55 tackles, two interceptions, and four passes defended. Academically, he was also a standout hurdler, winning the Pac-12 110-meter hurdle title and securing NCAA Indoor All-American status in the 60-meter hurdles. He concluded his time at Cal with 166 tackles, seven interceptions, and 1,604 kick return yards.

Davis entered the NFL as a third-round pick (68th overall) in the 2020 NFL Draft by the New York Jets. He quickly adapted to the professional game, making his debut in September 2020. During his five seasons with the Jets, from 2020 to 2024, he accumulated 175 total tackles, 8 interceptions, and 4 fumble recoveries. In 2023, he had a particularly strong season with 37 combined tackles, 8 pass deflections, and 3 interceptions, achieving an overall grade of 74.7 from Pro Football Focus. His versatility was evident as he played various roles, including deep center field, slot coverage, and special teams, where he contributed significantly with 20 tackles. In March 2025, Davis signed a one-year, $3 million contract with the Miami Dolphins, continuing his NFL career.
