Asia Hernandez

Asia Hernandez, originally from Barbados, is the daughter of Trinidad’s Limbo performer Perry Hernandez. She began her artistic journey at New York City’s Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of The Arts, specializing in vocal studies. This foundation led her to work as a recording artist, where she captured the attention of Kedar Massenberg, former President of Motown Records. Her collaborations included working with Afrika Bambaataa and Daddy O of Stetsasonic. Following this, Asia became a regular presence on MTV Networks, appearing in commercials and serving as a dancer, featured host, and choreographer on ‘The Grind’. These appearances established her as a sought-after choreographer, notably choreographing and performing in Amber’s international pop music video, ‘This Is Your Night’.

To further her acting skills, Asia pursued training at the Meisner program at Weist at the Barron Studio and undertook a ‘Scene Study Intensive’ at The Barrow Group Acting School with Seth Barrish in New York City. Her theatrical work includes an AUDELCO award-winning Off-Broadway production of ‘Damn Yankees!’ and portraying the Lady In Yellow in ‘For Colored Girls’ at The Henry Street Settlement Theatre. In addition to her on-screen and stage work, Asia has built a career as a voice-over artist and announcer, working for New York radio stations such as WKTU, WHTZ, and WWPR. She has provided voice impersonations for figures like Oprah Winfrey, Michelle Obama, Condoleezza Rice, Missy Elliot, and Lil Kim. Her voice work extends to commercial campaigns for retailers including Old Navy, Sean John Lounge Wear, Care1Debt Consolidators, and NYC Footcare. She has also been featured in a national television commercial for Walgreens.

Her filmography includes roles in television series such as ‘Blue Bloods’ on CBS (2012) and ‘Damages’ on FX (2007), as well as films like ‘Sex and The City – The Movie’ (2008), ‘Black Nativity’ (2013) where she also performed as a stunt woman, and ‘Everything’s Jake’ (2000). She has also appeared in ‘At Home with Amy Sedaris’ (2019) and the upcoming ‘Night Rain In My Mother City’ (2024). Her diverse experiences in music, dance, acting, and voice-over work illustrate a sustained career in the entertainment industry.
