Mark Ferguson

Mark Ferguson made a significant global impact portraying Gil-galad, the High King of the Noldor, in Peter Jackson’s Oscar-winning film ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring’ in 2001. After completing his training at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in 1981, Ferguson began his screen career, appearing as Paul Sheppard in the television series ‘Sons and Daughters’ in 1982 and starring in ‘The Sinking of the Rainbow Warrior’ in 1992. He gained notable recognition for his dual role as twin brothers Darryl and Damian Neilson in the New Zealand soap opera ‘Shortland Street’ from 1992 to 1995. His work also extended to animation, with a role in ‘When Ponds Freeze Over.’ Ferguson expanded his diverse acting portfolio throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, featuring in fantasy television series such as ‘Hercules – The Legendary Journeys,’ where he played Prometheus in the 1994 episode ‘Hercules and the Circle of Fire.’ He also appeared in multiple episodes of ‘Xena: Warrior Princess’ from 1995 to 1999, taking on various characters including Krykus, Dagnine, and John Smythe.

Demonstrating ongoing demand for his voice talent, he reprised his role as Gekkor in ‘Power Rangers Beast Morphers’ in 2020, affirming his enduring presence in the entertainment industry.
