Mark Ferguson

Mark Ferguson was born on February 28, 1961, in Sydney, Australia. He completed his training at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA), graduating in 1981. Early in his career, in 1982, he appeared as Paul Sheppard in the television series “Sons and Daughters” and also starred in “The Sinking of the Rainbow Warrior.” He gained recognition for playing twin brothers Darryl and Damian Neilson in the New Zealand soap opera “Shortland Street” between 1992 and 1995. His work also extended to animations, with a role in “When Ponds Freeze Over.”

Ferguson expanded his acting portfolio with roles in fantasy television series, notably appearing in “Hercules – The Legendary Journeys” as Prometheus in 1994, and in multiple episodes of “Xena: Warrior Princess” as characters like Krykus, Dagnine, and John Smythe. A significant film role came in 2001 when he portrayed Gil-galad, the High King of the Noldor, in Peter Jackson’s “The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.” Additionally, he took on presenting roles, hosting the Australian reality television series “Big Brother Australia” and “The Mole” in 2001, along with special episodes of “Big Brother Australia” in 2001 and 2002. From 2001 to 2003, he played Andrew Couch in the television series “Spin Doctors.”

His career continued with performances in films such as “Spooked” (2004), where he played Bill Roberts, and further television appearances including “Living the Dream” (2004) as ‘The Smarmy Host.’ He also lent his voice to characters in the “Power Rangers” franchise, specifically as Gekkor in “Power Rangers Mystic Force” (2006) and Moltor in “Power Rangers Operation Overdrive” (2007). In more recent years, he appeared as Dominus in an episode of “Spartacus: War of the Damned” in 2012, as Steve in “800 Words” in 2017, and as Geoff in “Head High” in 2020. He also provided the voice for Gekkor again in “Power Rangers Beast Morphers” in 2020.
