Barton Fitzpatrick

Barton Fitzpatrick was born on March 13, 1995, on the west side of Chicago, Illinois. He attended Beasley and Kenwood High School, where he participated in the August Wilson Monologue Competition. Early in his career, Fitzpatrick began building a significant acting resume with appearances in various television series. He appeared in the Dick Wolf-produced “Chicago Med” in 2016, followed by “Chicago Justice” in 2017, and “Chicago P.D.” in 2018, showcasing his talent across the prominent Chicago-based procedural dramas. These initial roles provided a foundation for his later, more prominent work.

Fitzpatrick rose to notable prominence for his portrayal of Reg Taylor, a Chicago street captain, on the critically acclaimed Showtime series “The Chi.” His performance garnered significant attention, establishing him as a recognizable figure in the industry. After his character was seemingly written off in Season 2, he made a notable return in Season 7, reprising the fan-favorite role. Beyond “The Chi,” Fitzpatrick has expanded his filmography to include roles in other significant television productions, such as Lee Daniels’ “Empire” in 2019, and 50 Cent’s “Power Book IV: Force” in 2022, where his character, Blaxton, was specifically developed for him by the show’s creator. His film work includes titles such as “Wayward” (2022), “A Haitian Wedding” (2023), and “My Valentine Wedding” (2024), demonstrating diversity in his projects. He is also a producer, with credits including “Everything Is Both” (2023). In addition to acting, Fitzpatrick is a musician who sings the blues, drawing inspiration from artists like Stevie Wonder and Smokey Robinson. He is also a cousin to actors Larenz Tate, Lahmand Tate, and Larron Tate.

Currently, Fitzpatrick is expanding his repertoire by working on his first studio movie for Fox and Marvista, which is slated to be a Tubi Original. This project underscores his continued career progression and ambition to explore new avenues in film. His ongoing involvement in “The Chi,” now in its 7th season, alongside new ventures in film and music, highlights his versatile career and commitment to entertainment.
