Benjamin Charles Aldridge was born on November 12, 1985, in Exeter, Devon, England. His early career began with the National Youth Theatre, followed by graduation from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. His professional acting debut was in the play “The Master and Margarita” at the Lyric Theatre, Hammersmith in 2004. In 2008, he made his television debut in Channel 4’s miniseries “The Devil’s Whore” and was recognized on Screen International’s “Stars of Tomorrow” list in the same year. He then appeared in several television productions including “Lewis” and “Lark Rise to Candleford.” Aldridge also co-founded In the Corner Productions and directed the comedy pilot “Pet Shop Girls” in 2011.
His career advanced with notable stage performances, including the role of Paul Owen in “American Psycho” at Almeida Theatre in 2013, alongside actors such as Matt Smith and Jonathan Bailey. Aldridge gained wider recognition for his role as Captain James in the BBC military drama “Our Girl” from 2014 to 2018. He also took on the role of King Antoine of Navarre in The CW series “Reign” between 2014 and 2015. Aldridge has continued to take on diverse roles across various mediums.
More recently, Aldridge has appeared in critically acclaimed series such as “Fleabag” (2016–2019) as Arsehole Guy, and as Thomas Wayne in “Pennyworth” (2019–2023). His film career has also seen him in prominent roles, including Kit Cowan in “Spoiler Alert” (2022) and Andrew in M. Night Shyamalan’s “Knock at the Cabin” (2023). Aldridge’s acting work spans film, television, and theatre, demonstrating a consistent presence in the industry. In 2020, Aldridge publicly identified as a member of the LGBTQ+ community.
