Bill Engvall is an award-winning comedian who reached number one on the Billboard Country Singles Chart with his hit single, “Here’s Your Sign” off his comedy album of the same name, achieving gold status—a rare achievement in the comedy genre.
Engvall was first seen on-camera across Rosie O’Donnell in the Showtime special, A Pair of Joker’s. This opened the doors to more guest-star appearances, include A&E’s Evening at the Improv, The Late Show with David Letterman, as well as the Tonight Show. Although he’s done solo standup, he started with the group, Blue Collar Comedy, which earned its own sketch comedy show. Together, the comedy troupe’s specials and concert films are among the most successful in Comedy Central history from their tour. The corresponding soundtrack even got a nod from the Grammy’s.
But Engvall’s solo career has also been wildly successful: he’s had ten individual comedy albums, two of which went platinum. Four of the albums hit number one on Billboard’s Comedy Chart, and one even hit number five for country.
Beyond his standup experience, Engvall is also known as an actor: he appeared on Last Man Standing, Leverage, and Hawthorne before TBS offered him his own show, The Bill Engvall Show. Other more prominent roles include Buck Overton in Delta, Bill Pelton in The Jeff Foxworthy Show, Bill Dugan in Bait Shop, Frank McDowell in Kiss at Pine Lake, among others.
Engvall has explored many other entertainment avenues, including hosting (LINGO, Mobile Home Disaster, Country Fried Videos), narrating documentaries, competing on Dancing with the Stars, and even writing three books.
