His early work included appearances on notable television series such as “Bewitched,” “I Dream of Jeannie,” “The Twilight Zone,” and “Alfred Hitchcock Presents.” In 1965, he secured the role of Will Robinson in the science fiction series “Lost in Space,” a role that brought him widespread recognition. He also appeared in films like “Dear Brigitte” (1965) alongside Brigitte Bardot, “Rascal” (1969) as Sterling North, and “Bless the Beasts and Children” (1971) as Teft.

Beyond acting, Mumy established himself as a talented musician, songwriter, and recording artist. He plays multiple instruments, including guitar, bass, keyboards, banjo, mandolin, harmonica, and percussion. In 1978, he formed the duo Barnes and Barnes with Robert Haimer, gaining recognition for their song “Fish Heads,” which was featured in Rolling Stone’s Top 100 Videos of All Time. He has released several solo albums, including “Dying To Be Heard” (1997), “In The Current” (1999), and “Pandora’s Box” (2000). Mumy was also nominated for an Emmy in 1991/1992 for his original song compositions for Disney’s “Adventures in Wonderland,” for which he wrote 105 songs across 100 episodes.

Throughout his career, Mumy has continued to diversify his work. In the 1990s, he co-created the children’s television series “Space Cases” (1996), for which he also wrote, produced, composed music, and guest-starred.
