Brett Goldstein

Brett Goldstein was born in 1980 in Sutton, a suburb of London, England. He attended Sevenoaks School before pursuing Film Studies at Warwick University. At the age of 22, he moved to New York to study acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Art. Throughout his career, Goldstein has showcased his talents as an actor, writer, and comedian across multiple platforms. He began his stand-up career in 2006 with a show titled ‘Brett Goldstein Grew Up in a Strip Club’, drawing from his early experience working at a strip club in Marbella.

Goldstein’s early acting credits include appearances in television sitcoms such as ‘Derek’, ‘Uncle’, ‘Drifters’, and the Emmy award-winning ‘Hoff The Record’. In 2015, he wrote and starred in the film ‘SuperBob’, a romantic comedy where he played the title role of a superhero. This project demonstrated his versatility as both a performer and a writer. His career further advanced with his win of the BIFA for Best Supporting Actor in 2016 for his role in ‘Adult Life Skills’. He also appeared in an episode of ‘Doctor Who’ in 2018.

A significant turning point in Goldstein’s career came with his involvement in the Apple TV+ series ‘Ted Lasso’. Initially hired as a writer, he successfully auditioned for and secured the role of Roy Kent, an aging footballer. His portrayal earned him two consecutive Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series in 2021 and 2022. Building on this success, he co-created and wrote the science fiction anthology series ‘Soulmates’ for AMC. In 2022, Goldstein signed a multi-year overall deal with Warner Bros. Television and made a surprise cameo as Hercules in ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’, indicating his continued presence in major film franchises.
