Brooke D’Hondt

Brooke D’Hondt was born on March 9, 2005, in Calgary, Alberta, where she also resides. She began snowboarding at age five and started competing by age nine. Initially focusing on snowboard cross, her interest soon expanded to halfpipe and slopestyle. D’Hondt’s early career showed promise, with her finishing second in halfpipe and fourth in slopestyle at the 2018 Canadian Junior Championships, shortly after her 13th birthday. In the 2018-19 season, she won the overall Nor-Am Cup title for halfpipe, securing her first victories on the circuit. She concluded that season by winning both junior and senior national halfpipe titles. Her progression continued with a victory at the Junior Jam halfpipe at the 2019 Burton US Open, followed by a 13th-place finish in the senior event.

D’Hondt made her Winter X Games debut in Aspen in 2020 at the age of 14, where, as an alternate, she achieved a sixth-place finish. This was succeeded by a fifth-place result at the Winter Dew Tour. She returned to the X Games in Aspen in 2021 and made her debut at the FIS World Championships the same year. After sustaining a humerus fracture in the summer of 2020, which required surgery involving six screws and a plate, D’Hondt returned to snow in October and competed in her first FIS World Cup event, the Laax Open, in January 2021.

In 2022, D’Hondt made her Olympic debut at the Beijing Winter Games as the youngest athlete on Team Canada, finishing 10th in the women’s halfpipe final. Weeks later, she earned a bronze medal at the 2022 FIS Junior World Championships. Her ongoing career includes consistent appearances in high-level competitions, with notable results such as 10th place in Halfpipe at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, 18th at the 2021 FIS World Championships (Halfpipe), and a bronze at the 2022 FIS World Junior Championships (Halfpipe), reinforcing her status as a developing talent in international snowboarding.
