Bubba Watson

Gerry Lester “Bubba” Watson Jr. was born on November 5, 1978, in Bagdad, Florida, U.S. He began playing golf at age six and was self-taught, never receiving a professional golf lesson. Watson played on the golf team at Milton High School and later for Faulkner State Community College, where he earned All-American honors. He then transferred to the University of Georgia, contributing to their SEC title win in 2000.

Watson turned professional in 2002, joining the Nationwide Tour and qualifying for the PGA Tour in 2005. A left-handed golfer, he quickly became known for his powerful drives, leading the PGA Tour in driving distance multiple times. His career highlights include two significant wins at the Masters Tournament in 2012 and 2014, solidifying his status as a two-time major champion. In February 2015, Watson reached his career-high ranking of second in the Official World Golf Ranking. He was also a member of multiple U.S. national teams for the Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup.

In 2022, Watson transitioned to the LIV Golf League as a non-playing team captain due to a torn meniscus, with plans to return to play in 2023. He publicly announced his resignation from the PGA Tour in August 2022. Beyond his golf achievements, Watson is recognized for his Christian faith and his involvement in community initiatives, including opening an ice cream store, investing in a Minor League Baseball team, and purchasing a Chevrolet dealership in Florida.
