Israeli performer, actor, singer, voice artist, writer and comedian Chaim Tool is also a producer who has been active since the 19060s. He has had many big roles in that time, chief amongst them is as Tevye the dairyman in the production of Fiddler on the Roof on both stage and film.For his great work he has been nominated for a Tony Award as well as an Academy Award and has also picked up two Golden Globe Awards. Chaim’s first roles in acting were in plays put on by the Israeli Army and he then went on to set up disown theatre empire in Tel Aviv. He has also made big contributions to the Haifa Municipal Theatre.
Away from the stage, Chaim is a revered artist and illustrator who has drawn in many publications and books including A Treasure of Jewish Humour. As well as this he has had his own autobiography published in both English and Israel. Most recently Chaim has take part in a farewell tour for Fiddler on the Roof in the USA, but has to withdraw later due to injury. He has also stared in Gigi, playing Honore, at the Open Air Theatre in Regent’s Park, London. Aside from this he has also acted in Australia, and New Zealand in his most popular role of Topol. Aside from this he has also starred in big films such as the James Bond classic For Your Eyes Only and other like Flash Gordon, Galileo in 1975 and The Baker’s Wife produced by David Merrick. As such he is a lifelong star of stage and screen.
