Chris DeMakes is an American singer, songwriter and guitarist who is well-known as an original member of the band ‘Less Than Jake’ that was formed in 1992. He was born in Michigan then grew up in Port Charlotte, music was always an important part of his childhood. His parents were singers who put on performances in bars and clubs. He played in a band while in high school and met Vinnie Fiorello who got him interested in punk. He then moved with Vinnie to attend the University of Florida where they formed ‘Less than Jake’. In the early days he sometimes would dress in costumes for shows such as a college professor, adding a theatrical aspect to his shows.
The band released ‘Pezcore’ its first album in 1995. With a big label ‘Capitol Records’ they released ‘Losing Streak’ and ‘Hello Rockview’. With ‘Fat Wreck’ Records they then released ‘Borders and Boundaries’. The album ‘Anthem’ was very successful and sold widely. On their own label ‘Sleep It Off’ Records they released ‘GNVFLA’. On EP they released ‘Greetings from Less than Jake’ and ‘Seasons Greetings from Less than Jake’. Combining the two they made ‘Greetings and Salutations’. In 2013 they released a studio album ‘See the Light’ which was well received and in 2017 they released an EP ‘Sound the Alarm’. ‘Silver Linings’ was released 2020, their most recent release. He has travelled the world and toured to shows with well artists such as ‘Bon Jovi’ and ‘Snoop Dog’ and continues to tour nationally and internationally.
