Chris Pontius gained widespread recognition as a core member of the hit TV show and movie franchise, Jackass, which premiered on MTV in 2000. Known for his humorous and often outlandish stunts, including the recurring ‘Party Boy’ sketch where he performed spontaneous public dances, he quickly became a recognizable figure in entertainment. Prior to his television breakthrough, Pontius began his career as a writer for Big Brother Skateboarding magazine in the early 1990s. He then starred in the film adaptation, Jackass: The Movie (2002), and made an appearance in Charlie’s Angels Full Throttle (2003).
Following the immense success of the Jackass franchise, Pontius co-created and co-hosted the extreme nature/comedy series, Wildboyz, alongside Steve-O, which aired from 2003 to 2006. He continued his cinematic presence, starring in Jackass Number Two (2006) and the acclaimed film Somewhere (2010), in addition to a role in What We Do Is Secret. Pontius continued to diversify his portfolio with roles in films such as Paramount Pictures’ Action Point (2018), where he co-starred with Johnny Knoxville, and Game Over, Man!
(2018). His enduring connection to his breakthrough franchise saw him return as both writer and co-producer for Jackass Forever (2022), a film that grossed over 80 million USD worldwide. He further contributed as writer and co-producer for Jackass 4.5 (2022). Beyond film and television, Pontius has also engaged audiences through live stand-up comedy performances across the USA and internationally.
Looking ahead, Chris Pontius recently filmed a Norwegian television series for Tons of Rock, set to air in 2025, which delves into the country’s rock and metal history. This project underscores his versatile appeal and ongoing commitment to engaging content across diverse platforms.
