Chris Sabia is a professional lacrosse player, born in Harleysville, Pennsylvania. He attended The Haverford School before enrolling at Penn State. During his collegiate career at Penn State, Sabia became a prominent figure in men’s lacrosse. He was a 2019 1st Team All-American, the 2019 Big Ten Defenseman of the Year, a two-time USILA All-America Honorable Mention, and a three-time All-Big Ten selection. Sabia served as a team captain and started all 58 games, accumulating 67 career caused turnovers, 102 ground balls, eight goals, and one assist. He also led Penn State’s defense to achieve the program’s first No. 1 ranking.
In 2019, Sabia was selected 10th overall in the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) College Draft and joined Chrome LC, where he started 10 games and recorded 14 ground balls. He then moved to Waterdogs LC, making an impact during the PLL Championship Series in Utah, registering 10 ground balls and 5 caused turnovers in five games. In 2022, Sabia achieved a significant career milestone by becoming a PLL Champion with the Philadelphia Waterdogs. Beyond his athletic achievements, Sabia pursued a labor and employment relations major with a business minor at Penn State, earning Academic All-Big Ten honors.
Sabia is also recognized for his leadership and community involvement. He was a recipient of the Founders Award and dedicated time to volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity, participated in the State College Sustainability and Diversity Expo, and supported organizations like the Wounded Warriors Project and THON®. His work ethic is further demonstrated through his experience in full-time construction during college breaks. Sabia aims to continue his professional lacrosse career, engage in a sales career, and contribute to youth lacrosse as a coach. He has integrated his professional sports career with community engagement and brand partnerships.
