Chris Spencer

Chris Spencer was born on January 2, 1968, in Los Angeles, California. He began his career in the early 1990s and quickly established himself within the entertainment industry. His early work included roles in several comedic films, contributing to notable projects such as “Blankman” in 1994, “A Low Down Dirty Shame” in the same year, and “Don’t Be A Menace To South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood” in 1996. These roles showcased his early acting abilities and provided a foundation for his subsequent work in both film and television. Spencer also appeared in “The Sixth Man” in 1997 and “Fakin’ Da Funk” in 1997, further building his filmography.

Throughout his career, Spencer expanded his roles beyond acting, taking on responsibilities as a writer and producer. He was the first host of the syndicated late-night talk show “Vibe” in 1997. His writing talents were utilized for various productions, including “Jamie Foxx: I Might Need Security” in 2002 and contributing to “Wild ‘N Out” starting in 2005. He co-created and executive produced the BET/Netflix series “Real Husbands of Hollywood,” which aired from 2013 to 2016. In 2017, he co-created the TV series “White Famous.” Recent work includes writing for the “BET Awards 2025” and the “82nd Golden Globe Awards” in 2025 (upcoming).

Spencer continues to be active in the industry, taking on diverse projects such as acting in “Back on the Strip” in 2023 and serving as an executive producer for “Black Comedy in America” in 2024. He has also performed as a stand-up comedian on shows like “The Chris Rock Show,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” and HBO’s “Def Comedy Jam.” He currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife, Vanessa Rodriguez Spencer, whom he married on June 24, 2006, and their two children.
