Christian Reitz

Christian Reitz, born on April 29, 1987, in Loebau, Germany, began his competitive shooting career in 1997. He later became a policeman by profession. Reitz established himself in the shooting world during his junior career, notably with victories in the 2006 ISSF World Shooting Championships and the 2007 European Championships. His transition to senior competition saw him achieve significant success, including winning multiple World Cup events and equalling world records in rapid-fire pistol.

His Olympic journey started with a bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Games in the 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Men event. Reitz continued to compete at the highest level, including the 2012 London Olympics. A career highlight came at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, where he secured a gold medal in the 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Men event, hitting 34 out of 40 targets. This achievement marked a continuation of Germany’s strong performance in the sport.

Reitz has consistently maintained a position among the top athletes globally, as reflected by his world rankings in both 10m Air Pistol Men and 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Men. He holds several world records, including a Qualification World Record in 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Men with a score of 593 (July 30, 2013) and a World Record in 25m Centre Fire Pistol Men with 595 (July 31, 2015). His career is further marked by numerous medals across Olympic Games, World Championships, World Cup Finals, Presidents Cups, World Cups, European Championships, and European Games, demonstrating a sustained level of excellence over two decades.
