Christine Brennan

Christine Brennan is an acclaimed sports columnist for USA Today and a respected commentator for major news outlets, offering her insights on national and international sports trends. After earning both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from Northwestern University’s esteemed Medill School of Journalism, Christine Brennan embarked on a trailblazing career in sports journalism. She made history in 1981 as the Miami Herald’s first female sports reporter, a pioneering role she followed by becoming the first woman to cover the Washington Redskins beat for The Washington Post in 1985. Her early reporting, including coverage of the Miami Hurricanes football team, culminated in her first book, ‘The Miracle of Miami.’ Demonstrating her commitment to empowering women in the field, Brennan was elected the first president of the Association for Women in Sports Media (AWSM) in 1988, establishing a pivotal scholarship-internship program that has since supported numerous female journalism students.
