United States Colonel Greg Gadson is a distinguished retired United States Army officer, motivational speaker, and actor known for his resilience and advocacy.

Colonel Gregory D. Gadson was born on February 19, 1966, in Chesapeake, Virginia. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1989. Throughout his military career, he earned master’s degrees in Information Systems from Webster University and Policy Management from Georgetown University. His service included deployments in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, Operation Joint Forge, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He held various critical roles, including commander of the U.S. Army Garrison at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, and director of the Army Wounded Warrior Program. On May 7, 2007, during a deployment in Baghdad, his vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device, resulting in the loss of both his legs above the knee and a severe injury to his right arm.
After his injury, Colonel Gadson became one of the first soldiers to be fitted with a next-generation powered prosthetic knee, enabling a more natural gait. Rather than taking medical retirement, he chose to remain on active duty, serving nearly two years as director of the Army Wounded Warrior program before being selected to command Fort Belvoir in 2012. He retired from active duty with 25 years of service, having received numerous accolades including three Bronze Stars, the Purple Heart, two Distinguished Service Medals, and the Legion of Merit. His commitment to service extended beyond the battlefield, earning him a specially minted Super Bowl ring in 2008 for his motivational contributions to the New York Giants.
Following his military career, Colonel Gadson embarked on a new path as a motivational speaker and actor. He made his acting debut in the 2012 film “Battleship” as Lieutenant Colonel Mick Canales, a role inspired by his real-life experiences. He also appeared in 10 episodes of the TV series “The Inspectors” between 2015 and 2016, and in “NCIS: Los Angeles” from 2022 to 2023. He continues to lead a dynamic life as an entrepreneur, managing partner of Patriot Strategies, LLC, co-founder of Diversitypop, an artist, and an advocate for individuals with disabilities, earning a Henry Viscardi Achievement Award in 2017.
