David Deluise

David DeLuise was born on November 11, 1971, in Burbank, California, to actor and comedian Dom DeLuise and actress Carol Arthur. Beginning his career at the age of eight, David first appeared in the film “Hot Stuff” (1979) alongside his father. He continued to build his acting portfolio with numerous appearances in television series and films. Prior to gaining broader recognition, he also worked in carpentry around the time his first daughter was born, demonstrating a diverse range of experiences.

DeLuise gained significant recognition for his portrayal of Jerry Russo, the family patriarch in the Disney Channel series “Wizards of Waverly Place” (2007-2012). This role, which spanned multiple seasons and included “Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie” (2009), resonated with both children and parents, contributing to the show’s Emmy Award success. Beyond acting, DeLuise expanded his career into directing, helming episodes for popular shows such as “Wizards of Waverly Place,” “How to Rock,” “See Dad Run,” “Lab Rats,” and “The Thundermans.”

Throughout his career, DeLuise has appeared in various capacities across different genres. His television credits include recurring roles in “3rd Rock from the Sun” (1996-2001) as Bug Pollone and in “Stargate SG-1” (2004-2005) as Pete Shanahan, in addition to guest appearances on shows like “Shameless,” “NCIS,” “Hawaii Five-0,” “ER,” and “Gilmore Girls.” On the big screen, he has been featured in films such as “Vampires Suck” (2010), “Pup Star” (2016), and “Unbroken: Path to Redemption” (2018). He also lent his voice to animated projects like “Megas XLR” and “Prep & Landing.” In February 2023, he co-launched the “Wizards of Waverly Pod” with Jennifer Stone.
