Courtney Reed is an accomplished American actress and singer, renowned for her groundbreaking role as Princess Jasmine in Disney’s Aladdin on Broadway. Her journey in the performing arts began at the tender age of six, when she first took the stage in a community production of Cinderella. This early experience ignited her passion for theater, leading her to pursue a degree in Musical Theatre at the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University, where she honed her craft and prepared for a professional career in the arts.
Reed’s Broadway career took off when she joined the cast of Mamma Mia! as an understudy for the roles of Lisa and Ali. She further showcased her versatility in the musical In The Heights, where she stepped into the roles of Vanessa, Nina, and Carla. Her talent and dedication culminated in her casting as Princess Jasmine in the original production of Aladdin at the 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle in 2011, a role she would continue to embody through various productions, including the Broadway opening in 2014 and the West End closing cast in 2019.
In addition to her theatrical achievements, Reed has made notable appearances in film and television, including roles in Crime Fiction and Law & Order: SVU. Her diverse talents extend beyond acting, as she is also the creator of Gagged Chokers, a company offering a unique collection of themed chokers.
Currently, Reed stars as Satine in the North American touring cast of Moulin Rouge! The Musical, having transitioned to the Broadway production in August 2023.
