Courtney Reed is an American actress known for originating the role of Princess Jasmine in Disney’s ‘Aladdin’ on Broadway and for her roles in various television series, offering extensive experience in both theatrical and on-screen performances. After originating the iconic role of Princess Jasmine in Disney’s ‘Aladdin’ at the 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle in 2011, Courtney Reed went on to perform the role through its acclaimed Toronto tryout before making her Broadway debut with the production at the New Amsterdam Theatre on March 20, 2014. She concluded her original, highly successful run as Princess Jasmine on January 11, 2018, having captivated audiences for nearly four years. Prior to this landmark role, Reed gained valuable Broadway experience as a replacement understudy for Lisa and Ali in ‘Mamma Mia!’, and later joined the final Broadway cast of ‘In The Heights’ as an understudy and replacement for the roles of Vanessa, Nina, and Carla.
Her screen career continued to flourish with roles in the film ‘A New York Love Story’ (2015) as Ryder, and television appearances in ‘The Affair’ (2015) and ‘Search Party’ (2016). More recently, Reed appeared in the film ‘Endings, Beginnings’ (2019) as Lauren and in the series ‘Liza on Demand’ (2019) as Megan. In September 2021, Reed took on another principal theatrical role, joining the North American touring cast of ‘Moulin Rouge! The Musical’ as Satine.
Her acclaimed performance led her to assume the role of Satine on Broadway, beginning August 1, 2023. Beyond her performing artistry, Courtney Reed is the founder of Gagged Chokers, a company specializing in themed accessories. Demonstrating her expanding creative scope, she is also involved as a producer for the upcoming project ‘A Stand Up Guy Named Larry’, continuing to contribute to the entertainment industry in diverse capacities.
