Cristine Rotenberg began her professional career as a child actress, appearing in 15 commercials for brands including Furby and Fib Finder between 1996 and 2001. She also held a role as Young Sophia in the 2002 TV movie ‘Charms for the Easy Life’. Rotenberg later pursued higher education, earning a master’s degree in sociology with a concentration in criminology from Carleton University in 2014, where her thesis focused on self-injury in prisoners. Following her graduation, she served as a Crime Statistics Analyst for the Canadian government at Statistics Canada.
Named from a humorous fan interpretation of ‘top coat,’ the brand quickly achieved success, with its initial collection selling out within two hours of release. Holo Taco emphasizes high-quality, special effects polishes, including holographic, multi-chrome, and iridescent finishes, all formulated to be 10-free, vegan, and cruelty-free, manufactured in the USA from globally sourced ingredients. By 2022, Holo Taco had sold over 1 million bottles of nail polish, cementing its position as a leader in the specialty nail care market. Further expanding the brands reach, selected Holo Taco products became available at Ulta Beauty stores across the United States in October 2024.
Beyond her entrepreneurial achievements, Rotenberg has engaged in impactful philanthropic work. This includes annual tuition giveaways aimed at supporting post-secondary education for students. In 2021, she established the Cristine Rotenberg Scholarship for Academic and Creative Pursuits at Carleton University, demonstrating her commitment to fostering both academic excellence and creativity in future generations.
