Professional Italian short track speed skater Cynthia Mascitto participated at the 2018 Winter Olympics and is a gold medal-winning World Cup champion.
Making her international short track speed skating debut at the World Junior Championships during 2011 in Courmayeur, Mascitto achieved instant success when she took home the silver medal in the women’s 3000m relay event. After making her senior debut, Mascitto has gone on to compete frequently in the 500m, 1000m and the 1500m, as well as the women’s 3000m relay event. Competing at the World Cup throughout her career, she has gone on to win silver in the women’s 3000m relay and bronze in the 1000m event during 2017 in Minsk and bronze in the 1000m during 2019 in Dresden. More recently during the 2019-20 season, Mascitto achieved world cup success when she took home the gold medal alongside her teammates in the women’s 3000m relay event. It was during the same year that Mascittto also won silver at the European Championships in the women’s 3000m relay. Of the other competitions Mascitto regularly participates at, she is a consistently high performer at the World short track speed skating championships.
A highlight of her speed skating career, saw Mascitto qualify to represent Italy at the Winter Olympic Games during 2018 in Pyeongchang. Finishing in an impressive 4th place as part of the women’s 1000m heat eight, Mascitto went on to finish in 26th overall.
