About

Dallas Liu was born on August 21, 2001, in Los Angeles, California. He began his career at a young age, making his film debut in 2009 as young Jin Kazama in “Tekken” at eight years old. This initial exposure to acting followed years of practicing Japanese Shotokan karate, where he became a top competitor in the North American Sport Karate Association (NASKA) circuit. His martial arts background was instrumental in securing his first film role, as his manager discovered him through karate videos online. Liu’s early career involved appearances in television series such as Nickelodeon’s “Legendary Dudas,” where he had a recurring role as Carter, and a guest role in “Bones” in 2014.

Liu’s career continued to develop with significant roles in episodic television and feature films. From 2019 to 2021, he gained recognition for his portrayal of Shuji Ishii-Peters, Maya Erskine’s older brother, in the Hulu dramedy “PEN15,” appearing in 14 episodes. In 2021, he featured in the Marvel film “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” as Ruihua Chen, the younger brother of Awkwafina’s character, Katy. A pivotal moment in his career came in 2021 when Netflix announced his casting as Prince Zuko in the live-action adaptation of “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” a role he undertook in 2024 across 8 episodes. He is also set to make his voice acting debut in 2025 as Shin Asakura in the anime series “Sakamoto Days.”

Beyond his acting work, Liu has also engaged in brand collaborations and demonstrated his musical abilities, performing “The Start of Something New” for “The Slumber Party” in 2023. His consistent work across various platforms, from martial arts-driven roles to comedy and fantasy series, highlights a diverse and evolving filmography. Liu’s progression showcases his ability to transition between different genres and character types, establishing him as a prominent figure in contemporary entertainment.
