Damon Heta, born on August 10, 1987, in Perth, Western Australia, commenced his darts career on the Dartplayers Australia (DPA) Tour. His early career included notable victories such as the 2011 Pacific Masters, 2014 DPA Australian Singles, 2015 West Coast Classic, and the 2016 DPA Australian Open, accumulating 10 tournament wins on his home circuit over five years. He gained significant attention with a surprising victory at the 2019 Brisbane Darts Masters, a World Series of Darts event, where he defeated high-profile players including James Wade, Gary Anderson, Simon Whitlock, and Rob Cross to secure his first PDC title as a regional qualifier. This achievement prompted his move to the United Kingdom to pursue a professional career.
In January 2020, Heta successfully earned a PDC Tour Card, joining the professional circuit. Later that year, he claimed his first ranking title at a Players Championship event in Niedernhausen. A career highlight occurred in June 2022 when he partnered with Simon Whitlock to lead Australia to its first World Cup of Darts success. Heta further solidified his standing in October 2022 by winning his maiden European Tour title at the Gibraltar Darts Trophy. His consistent performance continued with multiple Players Championship victories, breaking into the top 16 of the world rankings. The 2023 season saw him secure two Players Championship titles and reach the quarter-finals in prestigious major events like the World Matchplay, Grand Slam of Darts, and Players Championship Finals.
The 2024 season marked Heta’s first major semi-final appearance at the UK Open, where he defeated several top players before a close loss. He continued to add to his title count with two more Players Championship victories and reached the final of the New Zealand Darts Masters. In 2025, Heta achieved a significant milestone by throwing a televised nine-dart finish at the World Championship, an event where he advanced to the third round and earned a substantial bonus. He also reached the quarter-finals of the World Masters and secured two more Players Championship titles, further establishing his presence among the elite in professional darts. Off the oche, Heta, originally a roofer from Perth, now resides in Leicester, England, with his wife Meaghan, and is a supporter of Nottingham Forest Football Club.
