Dan Howell and Phil Lester, known as Dan and Phil, are an English entertainment and business duo recognized for their extensive work in online content, broadcasting, and live performances, making a significant impact on British youth culture.

They started creating content together on YouTube, frequently appearing in each other’s videos. In August 2011, they began living together in Manchester, later relocating to London in July 2012. Over the years, their collaborative efforts expanded beyond YouTube to include work in television, radio, publishing, and live stage shows.
Their YouTube presence grew significantly with the launch of their joint gaming channel, DanAndPhilGAMES, in September 2014. This channel rapidly gained popularity, reaching one million subscribers by March 2015 and eventually surpassing 3.1 million subscribers. The duo also ventured into radio, presenting the Sunday night entertainment and request show for BBC Radio 1 starting in January 2013. They transitioned to hosting ‘The Internet Takeover’ on Monday nights, featuring other video bloggers, which concluded in April 2016. In January 2021, they announced they had purchased a home together, where they currently reside. In October 2023, after an indefinite hiatus since December 2018, DanAndPhilGAMES returned, and in October 2025, the channel rebranded to “Dan and Phil,” signifying an expansion beyond solely gaming content.
Beyond their digital and broadcasting work, Dan and Phil authored books and embarked on successful live tours. Their book, ‘The Amazing Book Is Not on Fire’ (TABINOF), released in October 2015, became a Sunday Times and New York Times Bestseller. This was followed by their stage show, ‘The Amazing Tour Is Not on Fire’ (TATINOF), which toured the UK, US, Canada, Australia, and Europe, becoming the largest tour ever undertaken by YouTube creators. They released ‘The Amazing Tour Is Not on Fire’ as a YouTube Red Original film in 2016, alongside a documentary and a photo book, ‘Dan and Phil Go Outside,’ which also achieved New York Times Bestseller status. Their second world tour, ‘Interactive Introverts,’ in 2018, included 80 shows across 18 countries, cementing their status as influential entertainment figures. In June 2019, Howell publicly came out as gay, and Lester followed later that month. In October 2025, they confirmed their romantic relationship, which began in 2009, in a YouTube video, addressing long-standing fan speculation. They announced their third joint tour, ‘Terrible Influence,’ in June 2024, with dates extending into 2025.
