Danka Barteková

Danka Barteková was born on October 19, 1984, in Trenčín, Czechoslovakia. She began her journey in competitive shooting at the age of 13 in 1998, focusing on skeet shooting. Her early career saw her rapidly accumulate achievements on the national and international stage. Barteková’s consistent performance across various championships established her as a prominent figure in the sport, leading to her first Olympic participation in Beijing 2008.

Barteková’s career progression saw a significant turning point at the London 2012 Summer Olympics, where she secured a bronze medal in the Women’s Skeet event. This Olympic medal marked a major achievement in her sporting life. Following this, in 2012, she was elected to the IOC Athletes’ Commission, transitioning her involvement to a governance role within the Olympic movement. She served as an IOC member from 2012 to 2021 and notably held the position of Vice-Chair of the IOC Athletes’ Commission from 2018 to 2021. In February 2022, Barteková was elected to an eight-year term as a member of the International Olympic Committee, further solidifying her influence in global sports administration.

Her achievements extend beyond the Olympics, with a substantial record in ISSF World and European Championships. She has won multiple gold, silver, and bronze medals across various years in both individual and team skeet events. Barteková has participated in five Olympic Games, including Beijing 2008, London 2012, Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020, and earned a quota for Paris 2024. She also holds 14 Slovak Championship titles.
