Darrell Currie

BT Sport’s Darrell Currie is a journalist and television presenter from Scotland. He works for BT Sport as a broadcaster and touchline reporter, covering English and Scottish football. He is also a member of ESPN’s football coverage crew and contributes to Premier Sports’ coverage of the Scottish Cup.

Currie was born in Glasgow and raised in Bearsden. He is the grandson of vocalist Mary Lee. Adrian, his brother, is an actor. Currie received his education at Glasgow High School before going to the University of Manchester to study business and economics. He was a rugby player in his youth, training with the Sale Sharks. As a teenager, Currie gained his first break in the media profession as an afternoon runner on Radio Clyde. Currie worked for a number of broadcasting companies before joining BT Sport, including BBC Scotland and CNN International.

Currie was the network’s SPFL reporter during his stint with ESPN. He has worked as a reporter for ESPN’s Premier League coverage and contributed as a reporter to ESPN’s coverage of the 2010 FIFA World Cup and Euro 2012. He is presently the principal SPFL presenter for BT Sport, with Chris Sutton, Stephen Craigan, Ally McCoist, and Kevin Thomson as regular guests. Currie also covers the UEFA Europa League and UEFA Champions League for BT Sport, as well as filling in for Jake Humphrey on the Premier League. Currie, his wife, son, and daughter live in London.
