Darren Barnet

Darren Barnet was born on April 27, 1991, in Los Angeles, California. He later moved to Orlando, Florida, at age 12 and graduated from Dr. Phillips High School in 2009. Barnet pursued higher education at Berry College, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 2013, where he actively participated in plays and short films. Despite an early interest in acting since age five, he committed to a career in the field during his college years. Following his graduation, Barnet returned to Los Angeles to pursue acting full-time, taking on various jobs, including working at SoulCycle and obtaining a real estate license, before making his acting debut in 2017.

Barnet’s career progression began with episodic roles in television shows such as “This Is Us,” “S.W.A.T.,” and “Criminal Minds” in 2017. In 2020, he achieved significant recognition for his role as Paxton Hall-Yoshida in the Netflix teen comedy-drama series “Never Have I Ever,” a performance that garnered positive reviews and contributed to the show’s global viewership of 40 million households. He continued to expand his filmography with a role in “American Pie Presents: Girls’ Rules” (2020) and became part of the ensemble cast in the horror-comedy film “Untitled Horror Movie” in 2021. Barnet also took on voice acting roles, notably as Yuichi Usagi in Netflix’s animated series “Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles” in 2022 and Taigen in “Blue Eye Samurai” in 2023.

His recent work includes the sports film “Gran Turismo” (2023), where he portrayed Matty Davis, and the romantic comedy film “Anyone But You” (2023), starring alongside Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell. Barnet joined the cast of “Chicago Med” as Dr. John Frost for its 10th season, further diversifying his acting portfolio. He also lent his voice to the lead character, Jak, in the video game “Immortals of Aveum” (2023) and is set to appear in “Road House” (2024) and the upcoming series “Jurassic World: Chaos Theory” as Kenji Kon.
