About

David Kaye embarked on his voiceover career in 1989, starting with the role of General Hawk in the D.I.C. animated series, G.I. Joe. Concurrently, he was an on-air talent for radio station C.K.L.G. (L.G.73), a role he gradually reduced as his acting opportunities, both on-camera and behind the microphone, increased. Over the subsequent fifteen years, Kaye’s on-camera work expanded to include guest appearances in TV series such as ‘The X-Files’ and ‘Battlestar Galactica,’ and films like ‘Happy Gilmore.’ During this period, his voice acting career also gained momentum with roles in numerous animated shows and video games, eventually becoming the primary focus of his professional life.

A significant turning point in Kaye’s career occurred in 1994 when he was cast as Megatron in the ‘Transformers’ series. With the rise of new animation techniques, particularly CGI advancements championed by Mainframe Entertainment, he continued this role in ‘Beast Wars’ (‘Beasties’ in Canada) for three seasons. This commitment marked the beginning of a nearly two-decade association with the ‘Transformers’ franchise. In 2007, Kaye achieved a unique milestone by becoming the only actor in the franchise’s history to voice both the lead villain, Megatron, and the lead hero, Optimus Prime, for Cartoon Network’s ‘Transformers: Animated.’ He also returned to the ‘G.I. Joe’ franchise years later, providing the voice for Scarlett’s father and serving as the narrator for every episode’s opening titles.

Kaye’s extensive voice work includes notable characters in anime such as Sesshomaru in the English dub of ‘InuYasha,’ Treize Khushrenada in ‘Mobile Suit Gundam Wing,’ Recoome in ‘Dragon Ball Z,’ and Soun Tendo in ‘Ranma 1/2.’ Following a decade of commuting, Kaye relocated to Los Angeles full-time in 2007, shortly thereafter securing a role in the Disney/Pixar film ‘Up.’ His video game credits feature the character Clank in Insomniac’s ‘Ratchet & Clank’ series, Mysterio in ‘Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions’ and ‘Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3,’ Nick Fury and Captain America in ‘Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2,’ Nathan Hale in ‘Resistance,’ Logan Carter in ‘Dead Island,’ and Missing Link in ‘Monsters vs. Aliens.’ He also voices Khyber in ‘Ben 10: Omniverse,’ Baby Reginald on ‘Regular Show,’ various characters including J.A.R.V.I.S., Vision, and Baron Zemo on ‘Avengers Assemble,’ Vandal Savage on ‘Young Justice,’ Duckworth on ‘DuckTales,’ and Grandpa Max in the ‘Ben 10’ reboot. Kaye also contributes voice segments to the HBO program ‘Last Week Tonight with John Oliver,’ and provides voices for movie trailers, network promotions for ABC, Fox, and The CW, and numerous radio and television commercials.
