Martin Henderson

Martin Henderson has established a multifaceted career, transitioning from early soap opera roles in New Zealand to leading positions in Hollywood films and popular television series. After starring opposite Naomi Watts in the critically acclaimed horror film ‘The Ring’ in 2002, Martin Henderson established a multifaceted career. He began acting in the local New Zealand television production ‘Strangers’ in 1989, gaining early recognition as Stuart Neilson in the New Zealand soap opera ‘Shortland Street’ from 1992 to 1995. He then moved to Australia, featuring in productions such as ‘Echo Point,’ ‘Sweat’ alongside Heath Ledger, ‘Home and Away,’ and ‘Big Sky’ in the mid-1990s.

For his role in the Australian film ‘Kick,’ he earned an AFI Award nomination for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in 1999. In 1997, Henderson relocated to the United States, studying at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York City, before securing a supporting role in John Woo’s war film ‘Windtalkers’ in 2001. His career continued with diverse roles, including an appearance in Britney Spears’ ‘Toxic’ music video (2003), co-starring with Aishwarya Rai in ‘Bride & Prejudice’ (2004), and alongside Cate Blanchett in the award-winning ‘Little Fish’ (2005). Henderson expanded his stage presence, performing in a West End theatre production of ‘Fool for Love’ with Juliette Lewis in 2006.

Most recently, he starred as Wayne Gilroy in the horror film ‘X’ in 2022. Henderson further showcased his creative versatility by directing an episode of ‘Virgin River’ in 2024. He is also set to appear in the upcoming film ‘Alphas,’ currently in post-production.
