Derek Wolf is the founder of Over the Fire Cooking, one of the most successful and popular cooking Instagram accounts in the world. In less than 3 years Over the Fire Cooking grew from a few hundred followers to over 2.3 million as Wolf shared his open fire cooking recipes and photos online. He has now travelled all around the United States, the Americas and Europe and has collaborated with top brands including Cowboy Charcoal, Guinness, Weber and Lodge Cast Iron. The social media star has cooked for thousands at multiple festivals, made television shorts with Buffalo Trace and has been featured in Southern Cast Iron Magazine. He has also produced a line of spice blends for Spiceology which are now their best-selling products.
Wolf first found his passion for fire cooking whilst sat on his couch watching TV whilst putting off his school work in college. After watching a documentary about a South American chef who cooked with fire, he knew he wanted to try it himself and tried cooking a steak with homemade chimichurri sauce on a fire pit he’d received as a wedding gift. From that moment Wolf and his wife decided that they would grill all their meals over a live fire, and began to post their cooking adventures on Instagram. Before long their Instagram account blew up, and what started as a personal page became a community of influencers all working as one to help promote fire cooking.
