Dominic Monaghan

Dominic Monaghan gained global recognition as Meriadoc ‘Merry’ Brandybuck in Peter Jackson’s acclaimed The Lord of the Rings film trilogy (2001–2003), earning him a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. Prior to this, Monaghan established his career with significant roles in British television, including his co-starring debut as Geoffrey Shawcross in the drama Hetty Wainthropp Investigates, which ran for four seasons from 1996 to 1998. He further demonstrated his versatility in projects such as This Is Personal: The Hunt for the Yorkshire Ripper (2000) and a leading part in Monsignor Renard (2000), laying the groundwork for his international success. Following his work in Middle-earth, Monaghan transitioned to another iconic role as Charlie Pace in the critically acclaimed ABC drama series Lost (2004–2010), for which he received a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.

His extensive work on Lost showcased his ability to portray complex characters, leading to diverse roles in both film and television. During this period, he appeared as Chris Bradley in the feature film X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) and as Dr. Simon Campos in the series FlashForward (2009–2010). Expanding his craft, Monaghan also served as executive producer and host of his own nature-focused series, Wild Things with Dominic Monaghan, which aired from 2012 to 2016.

Currently, Monaghan co-hosts the popular podcast ‘The Friendship Onion’ alongside his Lord of the Rings co-star Billy Boyd, offering fans a unique insight into their experiences and careers. Most recently, he made his anticipated stage debut with Billy Boyd in Tom Stoppard’s classic play Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead in 2024, showcasing his return to live performance and expanding his artistic repertoire.
