Donald Sutherland is a well-known actor whose career has spanned for nearly sixty years. Younger fans of his work will know him best for his role as President Snow in the Hunger Games franchise, but he has long been a key figure in film and TV, appearing in classic roles in MASH, Pride and Prejudice and The Italian Job.
Sutherland has been acting since 1962 when he took on several minor roles in TV shows. It was his role in the classic movie, MASH, which really put him on the map for the first time in 1970, and he’s been appearing in huge projects ever since. Many will know him for his role in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie, and gamers will recognise him for his voiceover roles in the Final Fantasy series. However, some of his bigger roles didn’t come until later in his career, including his leading role in the drama, American Gun, and the well known mafia film, The Italian Job.
One of the crowning achievements in Sutherland’s career was his role in The Hunger Games movies. The franchise was huge, becoming one of the biggest teen drama film series of all time, and his iconic portrayal of the evil President Snow will go down in history. In addition to his success in these films, Sutherland has also won two Golden Globes for his roles in Citizen X and Path to War. Of the thirty nominations he’s received over the span of his career, he’s clinched twenty two wins, showing that Sutherland is one of the best and brightest in the industry.
