Dr. Kim Van Dusen holds a diverse educational background, including a Bachelor’s in Sociology from UCLA, a Master’s in Broadcast Journalism from Syracuse University, and a Master’s and Doctorate in Psychology, Marital and Family Therapy. Her career began in media, sales, marketing, and advertising, where she gained business knowledge. Following her doctorate and becoming a mother, she founded The Parentologist, integrating her passions into a successful brand. She has poured nearly a decade of effort into this venture, which now operates globally. Dr. Van Dusen is also an author, currently writing her first non-fiction parenting book, anticipated for publication in 2026. This creative and entrepreneurial drive has allowed her to support numerous families through her practice and platform.
After completing her post-doctorate studies, Dr. Van Dusen spent five years as a Program Manager for a non-profit organization, where she implemented a positive behavior support program across more than 20 elementary schools. Subsequently, she served as a Behavior Consultant and Supervisor, assisting families with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Currently, she maintains a private practice and hosts The Parentologist Podcast, further extending her reach to parents seeking guidance. Her work focuses on supporting children’s well-being and academic success through practical, therapeutic approaches, as highlighted in her recent interview with Authority Magazine on the topic of helping children thrive in school. This extensive background positions her as an authority in child development and family psychology.
