Susie Allison, known for her platform Busy Toddler, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education. Prior to establishing Busy Toddler, she dedicated eight years to teaching kindergarten and first grade. Her professional experience also includes working as a math and reading curriculum specialist for a large school district located outside of Seattle. This background provided her with direct insights into early childhood development and educational methodologies.
Allison launched Busy Toddler in June 2015, initiating the venture on Instagram. The idea for Busy Toddler emerged from a personal experience where a cooking mishap led to her creating a sensory bin, a concept she had encountered previously. This accidental discovery highlighted the effectiveness of hands-on activities in managing daily routines with young children. Over time, the Instagram account grew significantly, attracting over 2 million followers, reflecting a broad interest in her play-based approach to early childhood education. Her platform has since expanded beyond just toddlers to advocate for appropriate early childhood education for various age groups.
Building on the success of Busy Toddler, Allison developed and released her best-selling preschool program, “Playing Preschool,” designed for at-home learning. This curriculum focuses on play-based activities and has gained widespread recognition. In September 2020, she published her parenting book, “Busy Toddler’s Guide to Actual Parenting,” which offers practical advice for parents. Through her work, Allison aims to provide accessible and guilt-free guidance to parents and educators, emphasizing the importance of hands-on learning and realistic parenting strategies.
