Drue Tranquill has established himself as a prominent NFL linebacker, transitioning from a collegiate standout at Notre Dame to a Super Bowl champion with the Kansas City Chiefs.
The partnership began with Tranquill signing a one-year, $3.00 million contract in 2023, which included $2.45 million guaranteed. This was followed by re-signing for a three-year, $19.00 million deal in 2024, with $12.50 million guaranteed.

Anthony Drue Tranquill was born on August 15, 1995, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He attended Carroll High School, where he excelled in both offense and defense. In his senior year of 2013, Tranquill recorded 75 tackles, 16 tackles-for-loss, four sacks, and an interception as a linebacker, while also contributing significantly on offense with 1,420 rushing yards and 28 touchdowns, along with 16 receptions for 348 yards and five touchdowns. He was a highly sought-after four-star recruit, initially committing to Purdue University before ultimately signing with the University of Notre Dame.
At Notre Dame, Tranquill made an immediate impact, playing in 11 games with three starts as a true freshman in 2014, logging 33 tackles, an interception, a fumble recovery, and a blocked punt. His collegiate career was marked by a medical redshirt in 2015 due to a torn ACL, which allowed him to return for a fifth year. He served as a team captain in both 2017 and 2018, finishing his time with the Fighting Irish with numerous accolades, including the Wuerffel Trophy in 2018. His academic achievements were also recognized, earning him First-team Academic All-American honors in 2016.
Tranquill entered the NFL in 2019, drafted by the Los Angeles Chargers in the fourth round (130th overall). During his tenure with the Chargers from 2019 to 2022, he steadily progressed, overcoming injuries to become a key defensive player. He recorded a career-high 146 combined tackles and five sacks in the 2022 season. In 2023, he joined the Kansas City Chiefs, where he continued to play a significant role, contributing to their Super Bowl LVIII victory. In 2024, he re-signed with the Chiefs on a three-year, $19 million contract, further solidifying his position as a valuable asset to the team’s defense.
