Elisabetta Dami is an acclaimed Italian children’s book author renowned for her creation of the internationally popular Geronimo Stilton series. Born to publisher Piero Dami, who founded Dami Editore in 1972, Elisabetta’s journey in the publishing world began early. At thirteen, she started as a proofreader for her family’s business, and by nineteen, she was writing her first short stories. Dami’s adventurous spirit is evident in her achievements outside writing; she earned her aircraft pilot and parachutist licenses at twenty and has traveled extensively, including solo trips around the world and survival training at the Outward Bound School in Maine.
In 1999, Dami began collaborating with the Piemme publishing house, which led to the creation of the Geronimo Stilton series. The first book in the series was published in 2000, and since then, Geronimo Stilton’s adventures have been translated into 49 languages and sold over 180 million copies worldwide. This remarkable success has been complemented by the Thea Stilton series, featuring Thea Stilton and her five Thea Sisters—Colette, Nicky, Pamela, Paulina, and Violet—which further extends her creative reach in children’s literature.
Dami’s commitment to philanthropy is a significant aspect of her life. She dedicates most of her earnings from her books to children’s hospitals and orphanages around the world, reflecting her dedication to helping children in need. Her work not only inspires young readers with imaginative stories but also encourages generosity and creativity.
Through her literary and philanthropic efforts, Elisabetta Dami has made a profound impact on the lives of countless children, inspiring both creativity and compassion.
