Elliot Haefner Glen, known professionally as Ellie Diamond, was born on December 20, 1998, in Dundee, Scotland. She began her career as a drag performer in Dundee in 2015. Although Dundee did not have a large drag scene, Diamond actively worked to contribute to and establish one. Her drag persona, Ellie Diamond, was inspired by artists such as Ellie Goulding, Marina and The Diamonds, and Hannah Diamond, symbolizing her desire to ‘shine like a diamond’ in the drag world. Prior to her television debut, she maintained a job at McDonald’s, a position she returned to briefly during a filming break.
Ellie Diamond gained significant recognition in December 2020 when she was announced as one of twelve contestants for the second series of “RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.” She successfully advanced through the competition, ultimately securing a fourth-place finish. Following her appearance on the show, Diamond participated in various media engagements. In March 2021, she was featured in “The Guardian” and subsequently in “British Vogue” alongside fellow finalists Lawrence Chaney, Bimini Bon Boulash, and Tayce. Her creative work also includes a wig company named “Wigzbyellie,” demonstrating her entrepreneurial endeavors within the drag industry.
