Emily Maitlis

Emily Maitlis established her distinguished career as a broadcast journalist covering the transfer of sovereignty over Hong Kong with Jon Snow for Channel 4 in 1997. During her six years in Hong Kong with TVB News and NBC Asia, she worked as a business reporter, producing documentaries and presenting, notably covering the collapse of the ‘tiger economies’ in 1997. Upon returning to the UK, she joined Sky News as a business correspondent before moving to BBC London News in 2001, a significant step in her professional journey. Her extensive tenure with the BBC began in 2005, quickly solidifying her reputation for in-depth coverage.

Post-BBC, in 2022, Maitlis joined Global and co-launched ‘The News Agents’ podcast with Jon Sopel and Lewis Goodall.
