Emma Wilson

Emma Wilson was born on April 7, 1999, in Nottingham, England, but grew up in Christchurch, Dorset. Her interest in windsurfing began at a young age, influenced by her mother, Penny Wilson, a two-time Olympian in the sport. This early exposure to competitive sailing provided a strong foundation for her career. Despite initial reservations about windsurfing, Emma’s natural talent and dedication quickly became evident. She started actively competing and developing her skills, setting the stage for future achievements.

Wilson achieved her first major success at the age of 12, winning gold at the U15 Techno 293 World Championship. This early victory marked the beginning of a rapid ascent through the junior ranks. She continued her dominance, securing three Youth Worlds gold medals in 2014, 2016, and 2017. Her consistent performance at the youth level demonstrated her potential for senior competitions. In 2018, she earned a bronze medal at the RS:X European Championships in Gdańsk, Poland, further solidifying her position as a promising athlete. Wilson then claimed a silver medal at the 2019 RS:X European Championships in Palma de Mallorca, demonstrating her ability to compete at a high level.

Her Olympic career began with a bronze medal in the RS:X event at the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics. Following this, she successfully transitioned to the iQFOiL class, securing a second bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics. This adaptability and continued performance at the highest level highlight her commitment to the sport. Additionally, Wilson has achieved notable success in the iQFOiL World Championships, including a bronze in 2023 at The Hague, a silver in 2024 at Lanzarote, and a gold in 2025 at Aarhus.
